NEast Links: Two home invasions and a court update

Joe Caceres and his wife were victims of a home invasion early Sunday morning. He says the couple was attacked by four men in the home on the 1300-block of Friendship Street where they’d recently moved. The thieves allegedly stole $10,000 that Caceres had brought home from his check-cashing business [CBS3].

Also Sunday morning, a family’s pit bull had to be put down following what is being described as another home invasion. A group of suspects fled without taking anything from the home on the 4100-block of Greeby Street, but first shot the young dog in the eye [Action News].

Linda Weston, Gregory Thomas and Eddie Wright will face fewer charges in their trial when a jury hears the case against the three people accused of keeping people locked in a Tacony basement and collecting their alleged victims’ Social Security benefits. No evidence exists that the trio were the caretakers of the people found in the home, meaning the charges of neglect of a care-dependent person will be dropped [Action News].
