National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day celebrates eco-friendliness of peanut butter

Yes, it’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time.

Today is National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day. And the PB&J Campaign is taking the time to remind us how eco-friendly peanut butter sandwiches are. Sure, they stick to the roof of your mouth and make you unbelievably thirsty. But it’s for the greater good of our environment.

The PB&J Campaign touts the benefits of eating plant-based foods like peanut butter. Every time you eat a PB&J sandwich, according to the campaign, “you shrink your carbon footprint, you reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water pollutions, you cut back on habitat destruction, and you conserve water.”

For more information, you can check out the illustrations that explain how eating plant-based foods saves fossil fuels, pesticides and fertilizer.
