You read all the time about animal hoarding, neglect and cruelty cases.
Now the the public can get a closer look at Philadelphia’s animal abuse cases and the officers who investigate them. No, this is not “Law & Order: Animal Control.”
“Philly Undercover” will debut tonight on the Nat Geo WILD channel. There, cameras will go undercover with a Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals taskforce as they investigate and break up animal abuse rings.
A brief description of the six-part series reads: “Using covert operations and undercover stings, members of this five-strong unit investigate a wide range of cases. These dedicated cops take on some of the city’s toughest criminals, with their penchant for illegal gambling, drugs, firearms and gang violence. The stakes are high and the risks even higher, because being marked as a cop can cost more than just the investigation.”
The first episode will air tonight, at 10 p.m. The other five will air Mondays at 9 p.m., staring Jan. 9. National Geographic currently has six video clips from the series on its website.
