Morris Day and Goo Goo Dolls to headline Welcome America
Philadelphia Mayor Nutter is a big fan
The acts that will be part of two major Welcome America concerts have been announced.
Morris Day and the Time who were brought into prominence by Prince will take to Penn’s Landing on June 26th as part of what is now being called Wawa Welcome America. Mayor Michael Nutter went back to his time working in a nightclub as “Mixmaster Mike” to talk about the group and what he will do at the concert.
“I’d have to go into serious training to really have to fully do the bird, I might have some other performance that evening, that’s why I’d have to re-watch Purple Rain.”
The Goo Goo Dolls will headline the Parkway Concert on July 4th just before the big fireworks show. There will also be dozens of events during the holiday week including a showing of the movie Avatar under the stars on July 1st at Penn’s Landing.
