Morning Edition host pleas for privatized liquor stores

Walk into any moderately nice bar in Philadelphia and you’ll find someone who can recommend you a good beer. Not a Coors Light; something local, something foreign, something hoppy, etc.

New bars and microbrews make the beer-tasting experience in Philadelphia, a great beer city, much more pleasurable.

But a wine city we’re not.

Our Morning Edition host, Jo Ann Allen, wants to be able to have that same experience when buying a fine wine or liquor. But she can’t. At least not until Pennsylvania chooses to privatize liquor stores.
