More charges filed against Philly youth coach

Prosecutors have filed more charges against a north Philadelphia youth football coach accused of alleged assaults on young boys.

Twenty-four-year-old Leon Watson was charged earlier with rape, unlawful restraint and child endangerment in alleged assaults on two victims.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s office said Tuesday that charges had been filed in alleged assaults on three other boys as well as an intellectually disabled adult male.

Authorities said Watson, a part-time coach for the Rhawnhurst Raiders football team until October, also formed his own neighborhood team called the “Little Vicks.”

Prosecutors allege that the three boys played football for the neighborhood team, frequently slept over at Watson’s house and were assaulted there.

A spokesman for the Defender Association of Philadelphia, which is representing Watson, didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
