Montgomery Co. bridge construction to close lanes on I-476

Drivers headed north on Interstate 476 next week may notice some delays as Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews have planned two nighttime lane closures.

The lane closures, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., will impact drivers on the northbound side of I-476.  PennDOT says the closures will allow for bridge construction at the I-76 Interchange (Exit 16).

PennDOT is asking drivers to remain alert in the area and to watch out for slow-moving construction vehicles entering the I-76 “express” lane on the southbound side between the I-76 and Germantown Pike interchanges.

According to PennDOT, the construction project is part of the department’s $71.7 million project to rebuild just over three miles of I-476 between the I-76 and Germantown Pike interchanges.
