Mint will produce fewer dollar coins

Turns out there’s something to that weird look store clerks give you when you hand them dollar coins.

The Mint has plans to produce fewer of the coins, in short, to save money.
CBS3 reports by producing coins only for collectors instead of wide circulation, the Treasury Department could save about $50 million a year.

Congress ordered the Mint in 2005 to begin producing four coins a year through 2016 with presidents’ heads on them.
