Minor damage after man tossed flaming bottle into Fraternal Order of Police building

Minimal damage was done this morning when a man tossed a flaming bottle into the Fraternal Order of Police building in North Philadelphia.

When NewsWorks’ Brian Hickey and Nat Hamilton stopped by the FOP lodge this morning, a broken window and burned rug were the only signs of the 5 a.m. incident.

When reached for comment, the FOP’s Mike Trask told Brian witness accounts indicate the suspect lit fire to a bottle filled with a flamable liquid, dropped it when the flames caught, and proceeded to pick the bottle up and toss it through the window. The flaming bottle extinguished itself when it hit the carpet inside.

An arrest hasn’t been made, but the suspect was seen fleeing eastbound on Spring Garden Street. Earlier comments from the FOP came with a tone of surprise, given there’s no controversial issues with the FOP and police officers at the moment.
