Milton, Delaware declares water emergency

The Town of Milton has enacted water use restrictions due to the recent hot, dry weather.

The water emergency went into effect Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and continues until further notice.  Watering of lawns, trees or shrubbery is prohibited between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., except for vegetable gardens.  Homes and businesses can irrigate between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on odd-or-even numbered days corresponding to their street address.  Also, no washing of vehicles is allowed, with an exception for commercial facilities.  Milton officials said more than half-a-million gallons a day were being used in the town of 2,600 residents.
