Delaware’s ultimate Oprah viewer makes TV debut
Middletown’s Debby Brown landed a spot on Wednesday’s “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” and earned a chance to meet her idol.
“She is true to who you see on television, very personable, very down to earth,” said Brown.
Brown says this all started one sleepless night two months ago. The 55-year-old was checking out Oprah’s website when she stumbled upon Oprah’s “Look and feel 20 years younger” challenge — a topic that really spoke to her.
“It wasn’t so much the 20 years younger that peaked my interest,” Brown said. “But it was more of it talked about do you want to plan for your life, do you want to get healthier, have you tried diet after diet.”
The 55-year-old answered “yes” to all of those questions, so she typed up a three paragraph letter explaining why the talk show host should choose her. Brown says she heard back right away and kicked off her journey not knowing what to expect.
“When they sent me my plane tickets, it was basically this is the flight you’re on and just bring exercise clothes, bring comfortable clothing, you’re going to be busy from beginning to end,” said Brown.
The challenge started February 23rd in California, where Brown met with Oprah’s super health team, including Oprah’s trainer Bob Greene.
“It was a lot of key learnings about exercise, about food choices, what choices are good,” said Brown. “I maximized every resource and every opportunity that they gave me.”
And all of her hard work paid off. Now, Brown is 27 pounds lighter after just 60 days. Brown, who only returned to her Delaware home last week, describes the experience as life-changing.
