Manayunk, Roxborough considers a co-op with help from Weavers Way

    Organizers from Manayunk and Roxborough are considering the launch of a food co-op, with help from Weavers Way.

     

    As locally grown and sustainably sourced ingredients become increasingly sought-after, neighborhood food co-ops are popping up around the city. The South Philly Food Co-Op launched about a year ago, and now touts 250 ‘founding members-owners.’

    In Manayunk and Roxborough, neighborhood organizers are considering a food co-op, with the help of Weavers Way, the godfather of local co-ops. A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 7pm, where residents can come to show their support.
