Fairhill man shot to death in East Germantown

A 45-year-old man who was shot in the face in the 5600 block of Chew Avenue early Sunday was pronounced dead a half an hour later at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police received a call about a person with a gun and responded to the area of Chew Avenue near E. Woodlawn St., where they found the victim, Perry Franklin of the 2800 block of N. Franklin St. in the Fairhill neighborhood, face down in the street at 2:28 a.m.

Franklin was then transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead just after 3 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
