Man hospitalized in Center City shooting

    A man was shot early this morning on the Broad Street Line concourse around Broad and Chestnut streets.

    Sgt. John Wood of the 9th District tells WHYY the victim was shot in the neck around 3 a.m. and was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital.

    Police discovered the victim, a 37-year-old white male, on Broad Street between Walnut and Locust streets, where he was screaming for help and said he’d been shot. He told police he was shot at Broad and Chestnut streets.

    The suspect is described as a black male, age 30 to 35, tall with light facial hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark wool cap and jeans at the time of the shooting.
