Man fatally shot in Germantown

A 30-year-old man was fatally shot on the 5500 block of Blakemore St. in Germantown Monday morning.

A Police Department spokesperson did not have information about the circumstances of the shooting several hours later, but said the man was shot once in the side around 10:40 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center less than 40 minutes later.

The shooter is described as a 5-foot 3-inch man wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and a black hat. He was last seen running toward Wister Street.

Initial reports that he ran into a nearby property were discounted after police searched the house itself.
