Man admits he set fire that destroyed NJ bar after fight

A Hamilton man has admitted to setting a fire that destroyed a bar after he was kicked out following a fight with the bar’s manager and employees.

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo said Friday that 29-year-old Anthony Balog pleaded guilty Wednesday to third-degree arson. He was scheduled to go on trial this week.

The former Berlin resident admitted to setting the fire that destroyed the Golden Nugget Tavern in Winslow Township in February 2011.

No one was injured in the fire.

He faces a recommended sentence of four years in state prison as part of the plea agreement. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 6.
