Making over Philadelphia’s statue collection

We’ve got a lot of statues in Philadelphia. Most notably, of course, is the Rocky statue. Love it or hate it, it’s probably the first to be named when tourists and natives alike rattle off a list.

The William Penn statue atop City Hall is probably just as popular, if only for his curse.

But if we take stock, is there room for change in our collection?

Tim Whitaker says so. The Philadelphia magazine contributor would like to see some new faces around the city, and kick some others to the curb.

His suggestions range from silly (we’re not likely to see Michael Vick and Arlene Ackerman memorialized anytime soon) to the more serious, like a tribute to Edmund Bacon. Take a look at his full list and decide who should stay, go and come aboard.
