U.S. hikers sentenced to 8 years in Iran prison

CNN reports two U.S. hikers detained in Iran on espionage charges were sentenced to eight years in prison Saturday.

Cheltenham High School graduate Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer each received five years for spying and three years for illegal entry, according to state-run TV in Iran and CNN.

The two, along with Sarah Shourd, were taken into custody when they were hiking near Iran two years ago.  Shourd, due to health reasons, was released from custody and returned to the United States.

Iranian police maintain the American hikers illegally entered the country.
