LOLadelphia: Northeast Philly is awesome

“NE Philly is awesome.”

Just ask the folks behind LOLadelphia!, the site that pokes fun at the city’s idiosyncrasies, all the while celebrating them.

Last week, LOL published its “Top Ten Jawns That Philadelphia Would Feel Naked Without,” and the Northeast’s cuisine is right up there with the Aker Shipyard, Wawa and the Mummers Parade.

An excerpt: Despite being different and disconnected from most of the city as a result of politicians, moving patterns, and SEPTA’s available services, Northeast Philadelphia is very important. Lots of people live there, the houses generally cost more, which means more money in taxes for the city. Also, Northeast Philadelphia (with the exception of Franklin Mills) is awesome. I like that it’s different from the rest of the city, even if it makes getting there a pain in the ass. The post goes on to celebrate some of the delicious but lesser-know sandwich and pizza shops in the city, like Vince’s pizza, Chink’s steaks and Fink’s.

“Don’t overlook Northeast Philly just because it isn’t overly swanky or near any skyscrapers,” LOLadelphia! advises. “NE Philly is awesome.”

Since we spend so much time calling out media for their Northeast ignorance, we felt it important to point out that sometimes, the NEast gets the attention it deserves.
