Local business owner says ABC show used his logo

When watching the April 27 episode of ABC’s Cougar Town, Dennis Slack was surprised to see what looked a lot like the logo for his business, Slack’s Hoagie Shack. Although it started here in Philadelphia, Slack’s has now grown to include a dozen franchise locations along the East Coast.

In the episode of the Courtney Cox show, the logo for the fictional “Mel’s Hoagie Hut” appears very similar to Slack’s logo. He is in talks with ABC’s legal department about reparations, as Fox29 reports.

Slack doesn’t wish for the logo to be removed from future versions of the show, but rather asks ABC to change the fictional business to the name of his real business, receiving primetime advertising in exchange.

What’s most interesting about this is that show, which is set in Florida, uses the word “hoagie,” which is a regional term specific to the Philadelphia area.
