Lights, camera, Flower Show! [photos]

The Philadelphia Flower Show is less than a month away, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society kicked off flower show season with a press conference at Ritz East movie theater in Old City. “Lights, Camera, Bloom, Celebrate the Movies” is the theme of the 2015 Flower Show. Its major exhibits will draw inspiration from Disney movies and film history.

Show director Sam Lemheney described the entrance exhibit as Hollywood movie palace, with palm trees, search lights and a red carpet. A rose garden will pay tribute to some of film’s biggest stars, such as Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. The American Institute of Floral designers will use the 11 official Disney princesses in their exhibit, and Pure Design will draw from Aladdin in making a magic carpet the centerpiece of their display.

Returning from 2014 — in an even bigger incarnation —  is the California Sky River Buttery Experience and one of the extremely popular PHS Pop Up Gardens will sell spirits in the Grand Hall of the Convention Center. For more information, visit: theflowershow.com.
