Lightning strikes 6 homes in Toms River

    No one was injured when lightning struck six homes in Toms River.

    Thunderstorms swept across the Ocean County community on Sunday.

    Three homes were hit on Onyx Drive. The other homes were on Cedar Grove Road, Devonshire Road and Haifa Court.

    The Asbury Park Press reports Police Chief Michael Mastronardy issued a statement that said some of the homes sustained damage to their televisions and cable TV boxes.

    Lightning also struck a utility pole in the Holiday City section, knocking out power for three hours.
