Legislation would make Pennsylvania dairy farmers globally competitive

Legislation introduced today by Sen. Bob Casey is directed at Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers with the purpose of making them more competitive in the global market.

Milk pricing reforms, a two-class system (fluid milk and manufactured products) and improved reporting are part of the Dairy Advancement Act to “encourage development of new dairy products, improve producer revenues and make milk pricing easier to understand.”

Casey calls the bill, which would give dairy farmers a choice of risk management tools, common sense.
