On the heels of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal, the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network has published a downloadable legal guide for LGBT service members, vets and their families.
Freedom to Serve: The Definitive Guide to LGBT Military Service is meant to help service members navigate the legality of LGBT issues in the military. The guide covers things like standards of conduct, benefits for spouses and families of service members, discharge upgrades and veterans benefits, and becomes effective Sept. 20 when the DADT repeal is officially in place.
