Lawyers will announce second abuse claim against priest

Today’s announcement of a fourth sexual abuse suit against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia files claims against the same priest named in a previous suit.

Susan Philips will be there this afternoon as lawyers announce the suit filed by a former student of Our Lady of Calvary parish. The suit names the same defendants as the one filed by Phil Gaughan earlier this month.

Both men say they were abused by now-deceased Fr. John Gillespie, and the actions were covered up by Msgr. William Lynn and cardinals Justin Rigali and Anthony Bevilacqua. Today’s announcement dates back to the late ’80s and early ’90s. Phil Gaughan says he was abused by Gillespie in the mid-90s
