Last-ditch effort to preserve adultBasic coverage

In the continued fight over Pennsylvania’s adultBasic coverage, Community Legal Services has written to Gov. Tom Corbett asking for an extension. The Philadelphia-based group is asking the state Insurance Department to delay the end of coverage.

AdultBasic is set to end Feb. 28, leaving about 41,000 low-income adults without state-subsidized health care. The Associated Press reports Community Legal Services is asking the Corbett administration to delay the ending until those who qualify can be transferred to Medicaid. It estimates half the adultBasic customers are eligible for Medicaid.
