Lame duck pension

The Pennsylvania House is looking at a pension bill that would make cost saving changes to the state system. One change would be lower benefits for new employees, the Associated Press reports.

The changes are aimed at limiting high future tax payments for residents due to a coming balloon payout to the pension system.

The Senate passed similar legislation last month, so House approval would send the measure to Governor Rendell’s desk.
