Laid-off Camden police, firefighters sworn in

As of noon today, Camden has rehired more than 50 police officers and 31 firefighters with the help of attrition, grants and PILOT funds.

Mayor Dana Redd was at the swearing-in, where she said the rehired police officers — among 350 city employees laid off in January — will patrol the city’s hot crime spots, the Courier Post reports.

One firefighter was told he’d been rehired just 20 minutes before the ceremony.
