Krispy Kreme hiring for new store in Delaware

A Krispy Kreme doughnut franchise is opening its newest shop in New Castle.

The shop will be located at 141 North DuPont Highway, in front of the New Castle Farmer’s Market and is scheduled to open this summer.

The shop has begun hiring some of the 100 employees they’ll need to run the new location.

A job fair is being held May 21-23 to fill those positions which include store managers, counter and drive thru attendants and doughnut makers.

“We serve our doughnuts fresh and hot right off the line and we’ll be making them around the clock,” said Brian Zaslow, president and managing director of Dough Nuts for Doughnuts LLC, a local franchise company.

Zaslow said they collected dozens of applications within the first hour of the job fair.

“It’s exciting to see everyone coming here looking for a job with smiles on their faces and they’re really excited to look for that opportunity to gain employment at a doughnut store,” said Zaslow.

The Delaware location will be the fifth store that Zaslow’s and business partner Keith Morgan have opened since 2010. They also run locations in greater Philadelphia and New Jersey.

“We’ve had great demand from customers in Delaware,” Zaslow said. “They drive to our stores in New Jersey and PA and they’ve been telling us to bring Krispy Kreme back to Delaware.”

A Krispy Kreme shop used to be located on Route 202 in Wilmington and on Route 40 in Bear, but both were shut down a few years ago.

The new location is scheduled to open at the end of June or early July.

“We know people coming from the beaches are going to be stopping on the way,” Zaslow said. “We know we have America’s greatest doughnut which will now be Delaware’s greatest doughnut.”

The job fair will continue Thursday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Marriott Courtyard/Christiana Mall in Newark.
