Kidnapped Burholme man found in Upper Holmesburg

Police are investigating a kidnapping case that happened over the weekend involving a Burholme man.

According to a report by CBS3, Edwin Guzman, who owns a grocery story in Kensington, was abducted by two men around 7:30 Friday morning on the 6800-block of Dorcas Street.

Just before noon, Guzman called his family from a mechanic’s shop on the 8300-block of Torresdale Avenue in Upper Holmesburg. Guzman made it to the shop from the 4600-block of Wilbrock Street, where he said two men beat him. He was treated at Aria Health-Torresdale, and suffered burns on his arms and torso and a black eye, His ankles had been bound with rope.

Guzman told a neighbor his kidnappers has demanded $20,000, and a another neighbor told police she’d seen two men sitting in a vehicle around 6 a.m. Police have recovered a maroon Mazda Protege — whose keys had been left on the front seat — at Dorcas and Levick streets. They are searching for two Hispanic men in connection with the abduction.
