Key figure in N.J. scandal surfaces for hearing
A key figure in a political payback investigation involving Gov. Chris Christie’s administration has appeared in court to show she’s not hiding from the scandal.
Bridget Kelly’s lawyer says the former Christie aide at the center of a plot to block traffic near the George Washington Bridge came to court voluntarily on Tuesday.
Kelly and another ex-Christie aide are fighting subpoenas from a New Jersey investigatory panel.
Lawyer Michael Critchley says Kelly wanted to show “she’s not someone who’s running away.”
The divorced mother of four did not comment. She appeared near tears as Chritchley described how her life has been upended.
Christie fired Kelly after it was revealed she set the traffic plot in motion with the email, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.”
