Kelly will stay on as Philadelphia Housing Authority executive director

It’s official. Michael Kelly, interim executive director of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, will take on the role permanently.

“Mr. Kelly came to PHA at a very difficult time.  He immediately focused on creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, getting back to basics in property management and resident services and making PHA accountable and transparent in business practices,” PHA Board of Commissioners chair and HUD COO Estelle Richman said in the announcement. “We are quite pleased Mr. Kelly has accepted our offer.”

Kelly came to PHA on special assignment from New York to replace former director Carl Greene. He’ll earn $225,000 annually for his dual role as executive director and administrative receiver. That’s $100,000 less than Greene made.
