Kelly Drive remains closed; problems remain on Lincoln
Kelly Drive will not be open for the evening rush hour Friday, said spokespeople for the Mayor’s Office and Police Department.
Martin Luther King Jr. Drive opened last night, and Lincoln Drive is tied up with some infrastructure repairs that necessitate lane closures, but that’s being addressed with a short detour, said Mark McDonald, spokesman for Mayor Michael Nutter’s office.
McDonald said Kelly Drive would not be open in time for the afternoon commute, and had no exact timetable for when it would be reopened this weekend.
“Crews are cleaning inlets, the roadway and pumping out water. Manhole covers were damaged, some paving has to be done, and when the river rose, there was backwash out of the storm sewers,” he said, explaining the time elapsed from flooding to road opening.
On Lincoln between Wissahickon Ave and Johnson St., Water Department work will slow traffic as “one lane had an eruption of pavement so it was blocked off.” Debris also needed to be cleared.
