Keeping her campaign promise, Bass opens district office in Nicetown

Cold and rainy skies did not deter friends and residents of the 8th District from coming out Saturday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of their new district council office located at 4439 Germantown Ave.

 

8th District City Councilwoman Cindy Bass welcomed guests with hugs and handshakes as they congratulated and thanked her for her active role in the office’s opening. Bass, who is finishing her first term in office, vowed to open a district office as part of her campaign platform.

Though funding caused delays in the office’s initial opening, Bass — and her community — is pleased to see her promise finally coming to fruition.

“I’m grateful to Councilwoman Bass for getting the district office up and running,” said Quenton Bowman, the director of community relations for Ballin’ for Peace, a local nonprofit.. “It’s important for our politicians to have a presence in the community, so that we can continue to make positive change.”

Guests enjoyed refreshments and were welcomed to some one-on-one time with Bass and her staff members.

Bass and her staff will be available to the public Monday through Saturday at 4439 Germantown Ave. for 8th District residents to voice concerns, resolve issues and gather the information and resources needed to make the quality of life in their community the best it can be.

“This office is for YOU,” Councilwoman Bass said. “Hearing [constituents’] ideas and concerns for the future is always enlightening and I know that this office will continue to serve as a hub for community information and conversation moving forward.”
