Judge denies request to dismiss murder charges against Souderton girl’s alleged killer

A Montgomery County judge has ruled James Lee Troutman will go to trial for the murder of 9-year-old Skyler Kauffman.

Troutman’s lawyers requested the charge be dismissed, the death penalty be lifted and county prosecutors removed from the case. They argued a search of Troutman’s cell gave prosecutors a look at Troutman’s trial preparations and person thoughts.
The Delaware County Times reports Judge William R. Carpenter deemed the prosecutors showed no intentional intrusion when they searched the cell.

Troutman faces trial for murder, kidnapping, rape and other charges in the springtime death of his 9-year-old neighbor.
