‘JAM’ out during Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia

Philadelphia is rich with musical interludes and during the month of April, the city’s jazz community will celebrate its history during Jazz Appreciation Month.

Mayor Nutter got in on the action this past Friday, welcoming organizers, musicians, and officials, during a Jazz Appreciation Day event. It was held at the John Coltrane House and marks the 11th anniversary of the national celebration.

Here in Philadelphia, Jazz Month is meant to raise awareness and appreciation of the current music scene and Philadelphia’s important jazz legacy. And over the coming weeks, jazz lovers and musicians will be paying and playing their respective respects in clubs around the city.
