Investigators probe series of suspicious Camden house fires

Investigators say it’s not clear if more than a dozen suspicious fires at abandoned and vacant homes in Camden over the holiday weekend were arsons.

City officials say four fires occurred on Saturday and another 10 on Sunday. Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blazes, but no residents were hurt.

Investigators say they don’t know if any of the blazes are connected. They say 13 of the homes are located around a one-mile radius of the city’s Whitman Park area

The Camden Fire Marshall’s Office, Camden County police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating.
