Investigators call death of woman in Delaware apartment fire “suspicious”

New Castle County police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning apartment complex more than a week ago.

Investigators are calling the death of 57-year-old Juanita Lara “suspicious,” after her body was discovered following an early morning fire at the Harbor House Apartments in Claymont on Dec. 21.

The fire displaced nearly 40 residents and caused about a million dollars in damage.

Police and fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire and are continuing to gather information regarding the death of Lara.
