International Orchid Show blooms in Philadelphia

Philadelphia was dark and gloomy beneath rain clouds Friday, but visitors to the Academy of Natural Scienes of Drexel University were treated to something quite the opposite.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society’s International Orchid Show opened at noon, for the first time ever in Philadelphia, featuring more than 30 exhibits of the flowers in full bloom.

It’s a short-term show; the event ends Sunday at 5 p.m. The event is free with regular museum admission.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society is one of 600 chapters of the American Orchid Society
