Increased police presence at Philadelphia rec centers with basketball leagues

In case Hurricane Irene has started to affect your memory, here’s the series of events leading up to the increased police presence at some Philadelphia rec centers:

Mobs of teens initiate violent attacks in Center City. The city implements an earlier curfew and extends rec center hours to give said teens a place to go. Two separate rec center shootings leave seven people — all adults — injured.

After those shootings in West and Southwest Philadelphia, police will have an increased presence at rec centers hosting basketball leagues.

Between that and the impending hurricane, could we see a shooting-free weekend?
