In photos: EPA designates Philly a ‘Green Power Community’

    Philadelphia is a mean, green, pollutant-fighting machine.

    With our green-roof bus shelters, energy-saving stadiums and the Greenworks sustainability plan, Philly is proving itself eco-friendly. The official proof came today when the Environmental Protection Agency designated the city a “Green Power Community.”

    City officials and their green partners celebrated the title today at Citizens Bank Park, home to the greenest Philadelphia thing of all — the Phanatic.
