In discussion of new social media policy, Lower Merion School District starts with Twitter

Lower Merion School District is inching itself into the social media game, starting with Twitter.

As the district discusses its social media policy, officials have expanded communication efforts by launching an account to promote announcement, activities and sporting events.
The Main Line Times reports the district hasn’t undertaken any other social media efforts, but will start to incorporate them as the district website gets updated.

The new account called for a policy update, which, if adopted, will ban abuse language, encourage users not to make jokes and remind officials to keep students’ information private.

So you can expect to see tweets about summer school registration, not a joke about a football player’s end zone dance.
