Houstoun wins Senate approval to serve on Philadelphia’s School Reform Commission

Feather Houstoun is expected to attend Friday’s School Reform Commission after her nomination to the commission was approved yesterday by the Pennsylvania Senate.

Gov. Tom Corbett nominated Houstoun, the former head of the William Penn Foundation, to the SRC in October after then-member Denise McGregor Armbrister resigned.
Houstoun is one of four newly appointed SRC members. Following Superintendent Arlene Ackerman’s departure from the School District of Philadelphia, Rutgers-Camden Chancellor Wendell Pritchett, attorney Pedro Ramos and author Lorene Cary were tapped as new members.

Joseph Dworetzky is the last remaining Ackerman-era SRC member.
