Honkala gets Georgian’s support for Philadelphia Sheriff candidacy

Cheri Honkala is running for Sheriff in Philadelphia, and though the race hasn’t garnered much attention locally, she’s got a national endorsement.

“Cheri Honkala’s campaign for Sheriff of Philadelphia is the most significant move that is being made in America to challenge the out of control banks, and she deserves our support.”

That’s what former Georgia Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney said about Honkala, according to NewsWorks partner Philadelphia Weekly. McKinney will be in town this week for an event sponsored by the Philadelphia International Action Center and to formally endorse fellow Green Party member Honkala.

McKinney ran for president in 2008 after her 2007 exit from Congress when she pushed a Capitol Hill Police Office who she says didn’t believe she was a Congresswoman and prevented her from entering the Capitol.
