Holiday weekend homicides bring Philly’s yearly total to 301

Three weekend homicides in Philadelphia bring the city’s yearly total so far to 301. That’s more than the last two years, but does — as Philly Weekly points out — also include the eight alleged murders inside Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s West Philadelphia abortion clinic.

Want some numbers? The 26th District, which includes Fishtown, Northern Liberties and parts of and Kensingto and North Philadelphia, has had the most murders this year. Ninety percent of those killed were male and almost 85 percent were black. Seventy-nine percent of people arrested for murder had already been arrested.
