Holiday help

Fearing the threat of massive federal spending cuts during the coming congressional term, local officials are coming together to help save unemployment insurance and other programs aimed at helping poor and out of work Americans.

The Center for American Progress will hold a conference call today to discuss its report with new data on how many families get help from such programs.  The group is calling on Congress to extend unemployment benefits.  Governor Rendell, along with several business leaders like the CEO of Sav-A-Lot grocery stores, will be on the call.
