Hog Hell

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports police are investigating the deaths of more than 900 pigs inside a barn at an abandoned farm in Warfordsburg, PA. The carcasses were found in various states of decay, and police are conducting necropsies to determine a cause of death, but suspect the animals were abused or neglected. Authorities say the farm’s owner left the property in August. The animals appear to have been dead for several months.

Not to make light of this awful incident, but one member of the newsroom posed this question at the morning meeting: exactly how long will it take authorities to dissect nearly a thousand pigs?
