Historically dry town goes wet, today only

Though Haddonfield, New Jersey has been liquor-free for 139 years, community members and organizers are willing to give up their dry traditions for an historic beer tasting event.

The Indian King Tavern Museum will host a colonial, beer tasting event, today, May 5, in the historically dry town of Haddonfield, New Jersey. Philadelphia’s Yards Brewery will be proving the usually prohibited suds for this special event.

According to Philly.com, organizers obtained a special permit to host the event and agreed to pay for renovations on the tavern. The historic site was the meeting place of the New Jersey Rebel Assembly in 1777.
