Highlights from the Center City District growth report

Center City has grown. No surprise there, as we’ve been reading (and reporting) since the new Census numbers came about the area’s growth over the last decade.

The Center City District released today some of those specific numbers ahead of its afternoon reception where the organization’s leaders will present a report with some statistics and strategies for maintaining that growth.

The city’s population has grown for the first time in 60 years, and Center City alone saw a 10.2 percent increase in residents in the last decade, and now those young professionals are the parents of about 20,000 kids.

Those kids will need to go to school, so today’s report will highlight the role education opportunities will play in keeping Center City populated.
