High-ranking Pennsylvania health plans don’t carry big names

    Ever heard of Geisinger or the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center?

    Chances are no, if you’re based in Southeastern Pennsylvania. But that’s where the top-ranking health plans in the state come from, according to Consumer Reports.

    The publication’s November issue ranks private insurance plans, and as Health & Science reporter Carolyn Beeler learned, it’s not always the national brands that come out on top. Some advice for insurance shopping? Look beyond co-payments and premiums and pay beware of high deductibles.
